Who We Are Looking For

NYB is seeking a talented Machine Learning Scientist with a master’s degree or higher, preferably with research experience and a background in computational biology or bioinformatics. The ideal candidate is a proactive, research-oriented scientist who is passionate about applying machine learning to solve complex biological challenges. Your expertise in deep learning and model development will enable NYB to push boundaries in drug discovery innovation.

Roles and Responsibilities

As a Machine Learning Scientist, your primary responsibilities will include:

• Developing and refining ML models to support real-time health predictions and diagnostics across structured and unstructured data sources, including clinical records, imaging, and sensor data.

• Integrating multimodal health data sources and applying fusion techniques to provide clinicians with comprehensive insights into patient health.

• Implementing interpretability methods (e.g., SHAP, attention mechanisms) to ensure model predictions are transparent and tailored to clinical use cases.

• Managing ML pipeline processes, including model versioning, CI/CD for model updates, and monitoring for continuous improvement.

• Ensuring adherence to healthcare data standards (HIPAA, GDPR) in model handling and data processing.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a related field, with substantial research experience.

• At least 3-5 years of experience in machine learning.

• Advanced Python skills, with deep expertise in machine learning libraries, particularly PyTorch, NumPy, and SciPy.

• Experience developing, training, and deploying deep learning models, ideally for applications in biology or healthcare.

• Proficiency in machine learning DevOps practices, including CI/CD, containerization (Docker), and version control (Git).

• Strong understanding of bioinformatics and computational biology is a significant advantage.

• Ability to tackle complex scientific and engineering challenges independently and collaboratively.

• Excellent verbal and written skills to articulate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively.

• Fluent in English
